The Lucentes’ Farm history started in 1955 when Antonio Lucente from Cerchiara di Calabria bought the land where the farm was built. He moved to Cassano with all his family in order to seek his fortune and he succeeded. His son –Domenico- and his daughters –Angela and Maria- have been managing the farm since 1988. They try to do their best everyday, persuaded that it’s the best way to suceed.

Lucentes’ Farm is 60.000 mq and it finds itself on the Plain of Sibari which is surrounded by the Ionian Sea, the Sila’s uplands and Pollino’s chain of mountains. The origin of this plain is alluvial. Indeed it is made of deposits of Crati and Coscile rivers and Raganello creek.

The name of the plain comes from the city of Sybaris , which is one of the first Greek colonies in Italy. It was built –indeed- by Achei and Terzeni during the VII century B.C. It was soon regarded as a trade power. At those times were agriculture and sheep farming. Therefore agriculture and sheep farming in the plain of Sibari have a very old origin and they can be considered related to the place. The Lucentes’ Farm is interested in wood cultures ( olive trees, orange trees and clementine) and cereals (barley and corn).
